EMC Filters
The PI range of products perform extremely well for EMC measurements when the recommended pcb layouts are followed. Our experience in common mode and output filtering led to a range of standard, off the shelf, parts listed below.
The common mode E cores have sufficient leakage inductance to assist with differential mode noise. So from 7 – 60 watts this is the only inductive primary component required. Interestingly, when using the TinySwitch below 7 watts, EMC passes are easily possible with a one mH inductor in a PI circuit.
Secondary side filtering is again straight forward with values from 3 mH to 10 mH.
One area we have expertise in is power factor correction (PFC). The link below shows our standard range on a PDF. Usually PFC is required at power levels above 75 watts.
